About me

 

Hi my name is Stefani Casteel, I am originally from La Paz, B.C.S, raised in Cabo San Lucas, B.C.S partially in Oregon. I have family on both sides, my mother is from Mexico and my father from Amity, Oregon, so I grew up in two different cultures! That gives me two points of view of my surroundings, of what life can be. I grew up in a bilingual environment and that has come with its challenges, in society, family and my independent desire to form what world I want to live in. This is my first time attending college and I am filled with so many emotions, you see I am 34 years old and I know it may seem too late for some, for others a life changing experience. I obtained my GED in Linn Benton in 2009 and I was extremely afraid to begin college since I struggled so much in school almost all my life and thought " I could never". I remember so vividly one day I was on my way to take my last exam for my GED in Albany, I met a lovely lady who was in her 60's and she shared her experience as a 60 year old woman attending college. She said, " You never stop learning and I do not care what people say, I love to keep my mind busy, it keeps you healthy." That moment made an impact on my life and helped me not to put so much pressure on myself just jumping into college without knowing what I wanted to do for sure. I decided to move back to Mexico and focus on work, work,work! I did all kinds of things, from dishwasher, working in the kitchen, bakery, English tutor for young students, to managing our family Business in Mexico, cleaning houses, you name it! I am now at a point in my life where I have to let go of things that no longer serve me purpose and prepare for the next step, I finally have the courage to invest in my education and believe that I am what it takes to reach my goals, regardless of the old wounds that scream " YOU CAN'T DO IT." My major of choice is Visual Communication, I chose this major because it reflects a bit of who I am, I am a visual person, that is how I learn the best, I am artistic and can dive in to bring things out for others. I also chose this major because there is a high demand and this industry will keep growing and growing. My focus will be on Web Media design and I cannot wait to see what I can do with this career. What I am interested in learning marketing is well, everything! Marketing is everywhere and it's essential to learn for any type of job. I love music, I wish I knew how to play the drums but it is definitely on my bucket list, I also love to paint, specifically abstract with acrylic. One of my favorite sports is boxing and I love watching UFC, I also enjoy swimming. One big dream I have is to write a book or many and make my own website. I have so much to learn and I am HERE for it.
